Earlier, Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus had won the toss and elected to field after the start was delayed due to bad weather. The match was curtailed to a 15-over game.
Trumpelmann alongside Smit restricted Canada to 145/8 in 15 overs, with some cameo roles from Yuvraj Samra (37) and Kanwarpal Tathgur (30).
In reply, Namibia lost JP Kotze early on in the run-chase but Nikolaas Davin (32) and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton (36) stitched up a partnership to steady the ship. Despite Canada’s late fightback, Smit (33) late helped the African nation close on the 146-run target and helped them win the match.
